Wirral CAMHS workers to present at European Conference

Staff from CWP Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, (CAMHS) in Wirral have been invited to present a new, innovative mindfulness group for young people with chronic unexplained pain at a European conference.

The mindfulness group was developed through joint working between CWP CAMHS and the paediatricians at Arrowe Park Hospital. Since participating in the group, the young people have learned how to utilise mindfulness as an effective pain management technique.  They were asked to develop their own Goal Based Outcomes and score their progress on a scale of 0-10.  The group has shown a marked increase in these scores.

Chris Byrne, assistant psychologist and Angharad O’Neill, CAMHS therapist, will be presenting at the European Association of Psychosomatic Medicine conference in Cambridge in July.
