Spreading the news about Mymind

It has been a busy and exciting few months at Mymind HQ, with lots of developments and initiatives.

CWP CAMHS launched Next Step Cards in 2012.  Next Step is a Goal Based Outcome (GBO) resource which is made up of an easy to use set of cards which immediately engage young people in setting and achieving their own mental health goals.  We will be launching a Next Step App this year , to enable professionals and young people to interact with a virtual set of Next Step Cards.  Dr Fiona Pender, Clinical Director for Wirral CAMHS has been speaking about how the cards were developed and created collaboratively at national best practice events .

Young people who are attending Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills groups run by CWP CAMHS each get their very own ’4D Tool kit’.  There are 20 cards in the tool-kit that each link to a page on the mymind website  via a QR code. The cards act as ongoing reminders and prompts  young people to master skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and emotional regulation. Whilst the pages on the website have activities and podcasts that young people can download.  The concept of the cards was developed collaboratively with the young people who were part of the DBT groups.

We are delighted to announce that the 4D Tool-kit has been short listed in this years Patient Safety Awards.  Earlier this month, Lesley and Tesni from CWP and Jasmine, a young adult who had been part of creating the cards travelled to London to present to the judging panel the reasons why the 4D Toolkit should win the category.  We will find out if we have won at the Awards, which take place in Manchester on 5th July.

Lesley Dougan, children and young people’s practitioner will be speaking about the Mymind website, twitter feed and digital resources and the Mywellbeing Online team at the Digital Innovation in CAMHS  and Delivering Online Psychological Therapies Conferences on  5th and 6th July 2016.
