Primary Mental Health Service (East Cheshire)

What does the Primary Mental Health Service in East Cheshire CAMHS offer?

The Primary Mental Health Service offers assessment and short-term treatment and support within CWP CAMHS for children and young people aged 0-16 years.

We see children, young people and their families where the child has a mild to moderate mental health issue for up to six sessions of treatment.
We offer eight training sessions a year to health visitors, school nurses and children’s centre staff on various mental health subjects.
We can attend school meetings, common assessment framework meetings and other multi-agency meetings if there is an indication of mental health concerns. We liaise with other children’s services such as social care, education and the third sector.
Do you have concerns about the mental health of a child or young person? If so, you can contact your local CAMHS primary mental health worker to arrange a telephone or face-to-face consultation to discuss your concerns. We can provide advice and support to ascertain the mental health needs of the child or young person and help clarify how these may be addressed. A written record of the consultation can be provided.

We sometimes signpost children and young people and their families to children service’s, third sector agencies and other CAMHS services.
