Mymind Highly Commended at HSJ Awards 2014

On Wednesday 19th November 2014, representatives from Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service attended the prestigious Health Service Journal Awards. Children and young people’s practitioner, Lesley Dougan was joined by Fiona Pender (clinical director for Wirral CAMHS), Faouzi Alam (CWP medical director) and Jasmine Scarisbrick,  in attending the event.

The  HSJ awards are a highly sought accolade and CWP CAMHS MyMind online resources had been shortlisted in the ‘Innovation in Mental Health’ category. Lesley, Fiona and Jasmine had attended the judging panel in early October to demonstrate how CWP CAMHS collaborates with young people in the development and delivery our CAMHS online resources.  Then the wait was on to find out if our nomination had been successful.

The big day arrived and the team prepared for the ‘black-tie’ event.  The venue, ‘The Grovesnor House Hotel’ offered an imposing backdrop and it was overwhelming to discover that over 1800 people would be attending. The BBC’ s Nick Robinson led the evening, sharing anecdotes and ensuring the evening ran smoothly.

The night began with a special award presented to Dr Kate Granger, who inspired the ‘#hello my name is’ campaign; as expected Kate received a well deserved standing ovation. In all, 22 awards were being handed out, and we waited with baited breath for our category to be announced.

Eleven organisations were short listed in the Innovation in Mental Health Category, with one highly commended entry declared before the winner was announced.

We are thrilled to say that my Mymind were highly commended by the judging panel. A massive congratulations to all of the young people and staff who continue to make Mymind what it is today…we are definitely going from strength to strength.
