Ancora House Launch

This blog post was written by Beth one of the young people from the Young People’s Centre.

“On the 25th August 10 young people from Pine Lodge and Maple ward were invited to join graffiti artist Kieron to create a wonderful piece of artwork celebrating the launch of the new build CAMHS build, that will bring Pine Lodge and Maple Ward together in the same building for the first time. Work has started on the  new build which is due to open Summer 2016.

We spent the day learning spray paint techniques and getting involved in creating the mural which reads Ancora House coming soon……we ran a competition to choose the name and from loads of entries Ancora House stood out….our judges, which included Young Advisors, choose this name because of its meaning. Ancora is a Latin noun meaning hope, refuge and support, which we think is perfect for our unit.

The big launch event was attended by lots of people including Chris Matheson the Chester MP and Sheena Cumiskey the Chief Executive of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, two Young Advisors and other important guests.

The day was enjoyed by all who attended and we are all excited to see the development of Ancora House, especially as the young people have had so much input into the building.
